Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)
Many people in Arkansas know someone that has been injured or killed in an accident with a drunk driver. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is working to change that. The organization exists at the state and national level by providing victims with support, services, and also lobby for laws that will help decrease drunk driving. Laws like the ignition interlock program that required drivers with drunk driving convictions pass a breathalyzer test before driving. This law alone has reduced drunk driving fatalities by 27% in Arkansas. The work that MADD does to protect everyone on the roads in Arkansas makes them a great choice as this month’s Rainwater, Holt & Sexton Spirit of Arkansas Award winner.
Rainwater, Holt & Sexton is partnered with KATV Channel 7 to present the “Spirit of Arkansas Award.” The award is given to local charities doing exceptional work in the community. To be considered for the Spirit of Arkansas Award, a charity can apply here.
