Immerse Arkansas
When a child turns 18 and ages out of the foster system in Arkansas, they are often left without a support system. Being left without a support system at that age can be incredibly difficult. Immerse Arkansas addresses need of almost 200 kids per year going through that transition and jumped in to help them with the next phase of life. Some of these young adults have not yet completed high school, but are challenged by the next stage of life as an adult. Immerse Arkansas also helps all types of youth in crisis including homeless and runaways. The program provides housing, life skills, basic resources, a place to heal, and surrounds kids with people who care about them. The work that Immerse Arkansas does to change the direction of so many young lives in Arkansas is why they are this month’s Spirit of Arkansas winner.
