Harbor Home
Spirit of Arkansas winners are organizations that display the spirit so many Arkansans have by helping make their communities better. That is exactly what the Harbor Home for Women is doing in Conway. The Harbor Home exists to help women of all ages struggling to deal with a life of addiction. The Home has only been existence for about 3 years but is already making a difference in the community. The non-denomination, faith-based Christian organization houses women for the 15-month program divided into two phases.
Phase 1 is nine months when residents live in the house and are in the staff’s care. It helps give accountability to overcoming their addiction and prepares them to join the workforce and become productive members of society. Counseling sessions and pairing with a mentor are two other bedrocks of dealing with the addiction in phase one.
Phase 2 puts the resident into another home on the property. From there they live a normal life, they work, save money, get a car, look for an apartment and doing everything else to get ready for life on their own. Phase 2 is a six-month process. During which they are still attending programs and classes to help them overcome their addiction.
Working to help women overcome drug addictions and reintroduce those women into society is exactly what the Spirit of Arkansas is all about. We are proud to give the Spirit of Arkansas to the Harbor Home for Women.
