Arkansas Dream Center
The Arkansas Dream Center exists to serve low-income kids in Little Rock. They know that many kids need a place to go after school each day, and they work to provide a safe place to meet that need. They provide snacks, games and activities, lessons, and help with homework. The Arkansas Dream Center even provides the kids with a full meal before heading home for the night. Most kids have parents working in the afternoon so the Arkansas Dream Center provides them with structure, safety, and development they would not get if they were at home alone. About 300 kids a day are served by the Arkansas Dream Center. The goal is to provide these kids a “leg up” as the executive director describes it. The work that the Arkansas Dream Center does for Little Rock and North Little Rock kids makes them an excellent recipient of the Spirit of Arkansas Award.
