Heroes Behind the Line

The struggle with mental health can be hard, especially for those who can see the worst first hand. That’s why Heroes Behind the Line was formed. Established in 2018, this nonprofit organization was created to help First Responders with their mental well-being. This organization, started in Arkansas, provides education, outreach, and advocacy for firefighters, police officers, and emergency medical personal who need mental health support. As previous first responders themselves, the counselors and therapists do pro bono work to help those who struggle with the weight of the job. They are even currently trying to draft a bill to get PTSD covered under Workers’ Compensation. We salute this organization of “first responders helping first responders” for this month’s award winner.
