Home Away from Home
Little Rock is home to world-renowned cancer treatment. Our city is always happy to welcome guests that come in search of help. Home Away From Home is a hospitality ministry that provides short-term housing to cancer patients and their caregivers while they undergo treatment in Little Rock. Most guests are receiving bone-marrow transplants or other cancer treatments at the UAMS Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy or the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, but the apartments are open to anyone coming to Little Rock for medical treatment. They offer multiple one and two bedroom apartments in midtown and West Little Rock. These guests could be fellow Arkansans, but often are from out of state or even out of the country.
When patients arrive in Little Rock at a Home Away from Home apartment, they are greeted to a casserole in the freezer, a customized quilt, and a furnished apartment to live in during the treatments. Special rates are given depending on the length of stay. They can be for a few nights or a few months as needed. Home Away from Home is our Spirit of Arkansas Award winner for how they provide care for patients coming to Little Rock in search of life-saving care.
