New Details Emerge on the Takata Airbag Recall

Airbags are one of our first lines of defense from serious injury or death in the event of a serious automobile collision, and ensuring their proper function is crucial. However, Japan-based airbag manufacturer, Takata Corp., recently announced of its airbags in tens of millions of vehicles.

The Arkansas defective product lawyers at Rainwater, Holt & Sexton explain that the company announced the recall of an estimated 34 million vehicles because of problems with the inflators in its airbags. So far, six deaths and 100 injuries have been linked to the problem.

When the Takata airbag recall was initiated, it was the largest such action to be taken on a defective product in the United States in our nation’s history. The number of affected vehicles is continuing to grow, though. KARE 11 News reports that General Motors and Subaru have added makes and models to the list of vehicles that may be equipped with faulty airbags.

Roughly one in four American vehicles are now affected by the Takata airbag recall. Our Little Rock personal injury lawyers suggest visiting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website, safercar.gov, to find out more information about recalls affecting your vehicle.
